🇹🇭 Thailand
The Destination Thailand Visa as the Ministry of Interior published it: what the visa is, what it permits, who may accompany you, and where the national figure stops and the mission's own requirements begin.

Destination Thailand Visa (DTV)
Created by a Ministry of Interior announcement of 15 July B.E. 2567 and published in the Royal Gazette. The figures below are the national ones set by that instrument.
Each entry permits a stay of up to 180 days. Before that period ends, a holder who wants to stay longer may apply at an Immigration office to extend it. The two authorities word the extension differently, and we have not found a source that reconciles them. Immigration Bureau Order 4/2568, clause 4, provides for an extension of not more than 180 days — the Thai reads นับแต่ระยะเวลาอนุญาตตามข้อ ๓, meaning "from the permitted period under clause 3." The Royal Thai Embassy in London publishes it as available "one time for a period not exceeding 180 days per entry" and states that after 180 + 180 days the holder must leave Thailand and re-enter. Confirm which applies with the Immigration office where you will file.

Clause 2.2 of Immigration Bureau Order 4/2568 sets this fee separately for dependants in the same terms as clause 2.1 does for the principal. Each person pays THB 10,000.

The DTV instruments defer to that regulation without naming a DTV-specific amount.

Official stepMinistry of Interior announcement, 15 July B.E. 2567 — Royal Gazette 141/192ง special, pp. 9–11 — clause 2 ↗Applications are filed from outside Thailand. The Ministry of Interior announcement, clause 3, allows application at any Thai embassy or consulate-general abroad and sets no nationality or residence condition. Missions have since added one. Since 31 August 2026 the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane publishes the requirement as: be a national or permanent resident of the country where the application is submitted, and describes the change as applying worldwide. Permanent residence is narrower than ordinary legal residence. Not all missions have published the change in the same words — check the specific mission you intend to apply through.

The Ministry of Interior announcement, clause 2(1), names the permitted purposes: long-stay tourism; remote work by the high-skilled, the self-employed and remote workers; and other activities — Muay Thai and self-defence martial arts, cooking, study and sports training, medical treatment, training, seminars, and art and music performance. "Study and sports training" here covers learning and practising sport. It does not establish general academic study as a permitted activity. The following certification requirements apply at the extension stage — when an existing DTV holder applies to extend their permitted stay for one of these activity categories: Immigration Bureau Order 4/2568 requires, for martial arts, cooking and sports training, a letter of certification and support from a government agency connected to the activity; for medical treatment, certification from a hospital or state medical institution; for training and seminars, government support evidenced by an invitation from a state agency; and for art and music performance, certification from the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB). Photographs of participation are also listed. Missions add their own requirements. For Muay Thai, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Los Angeles requires an official letter of acceptance and support from the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) and documents from a SAT-certified gym.

The Ministry of Interior announcement, clause 2(2), sets the age limit at not over 20 years complete; the mission application pages publish it as under 20 years old. The two differ at age 20, and we have not found a mission publishing the wider wording — treat admission of a 20-year-old dependant as unsettled. The visa fee is THB 10,000 per applicant. Clause 2.2 of Immigration Bureau Order 4/2568 sets this fee separately for dependants in the same terms as clause 2.1 does for the principal. Each person pays THB 10,000. At the extension stage, Immigration Bureau Order 4/2568 places the THB 500,000 financial obligation on the principal only — the extension checklist does not list it for dependants. At the visa-application stage, missions including London, Washington DC and Los Angeles publish financial-evidence requirements in their dependant checklists. The details vary by mission. Check the checklist of the mission you are applying through. They show evidence of the relationship — birth certificate, marriage certificate, or certification of a child or adopted child — and evidence of accommodation. Where the principal's permission to stay is revoked, the dependants' permission ends with it (clause 9).

Official stepMinistry of Interior announcement, 15 July B.E. 2567 — Royal Gazette 141/192ง special, pp. 9–11 — clause 7 ↗Returning to Thailand needs no re-entry permit and no new visa. The Ministry of Interior announcement, clause 4, stamps each admission at not more than 180 days "without having to obtain a visa to re-enter the Kingdom again", an unlimited number of times during the visa's validity.
Official stepMinistry of Interior announcement, 15 July B.E. 2567 — Royal Gazette 141/192ง special, pp. 9–11 — clause 4 ↗The statutory basis is section 37 paragraph one (5) of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522, applied to DTV holders and their dependants by the Ministry of Interior announcement, clause 8. The count restarts on return: after leaving and re-entering, the next report falls due 90 days from the last entry. It may be filed 15 days before or up to 7 days after the due date. Late filing carries a 2,000 baht fine, or 4,000 baht if the person is brought in under arrest. The form is TM.47. Ninety-day reporting is not an extension of stay — it does not lengthen the permitted period on the entry stamp. Channels are in person, by letter, or electronically, per Immigration Bureau Order 4/2568, clause 6; the Mahasarakham page is dated 22 April 2562 and predates electronic filing, so it is not the source for the channel list. This 90-day clock is not the calendar-year aggregation used for tax residence — the two counts are unrelated.

The amount is national and fixed. Clause 2 sets a floor of THB 500,000 and the announcement contains no indexation clause.
The requirement is national and applies twice. The Ministry of Interior announcement, clause 2, requires a holder to have financial evidence, financial-support evidence for the travel, or a guarantor, of not less than THB 500,000, on criteria jointly determined by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Immigration Bureau — when applying for the visa or when applying to extend the permitted stay. How it is evidenced at application is set by each mission, and missions differ. How it is evidenced at extension is set by the Immigration Bureau.
The two seasoning periods are different tests and must not be read as one. The 30 days is the Immigration Bureau's extension test, under Immigration Bureau Order No. 4/2568, dated 13 January 2568, signed by Police Major General Phanthana Nuchanart. The three months is the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington DC's application test.
Missions that publish in their own currency publish fixed round figures — London GBP 12,000, Washington DC USD 16,000 — and a fixed round figure in another currency cannot track the baht.
The accepted form of evidence, the period it must cover and the currency it is published in are set by the mission where you are eligible to apply. Since 31 August 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane publishes the requirement as: be a national or permanent resident of the country where you submit the application. Permanent residence is narrower than ordinary legal residence. Not all missions have published the change in the same words — check the specific mission you intend to apply through.

No source establishedThis is a retrieval gap, not a finding. No dated official inventory of nonstop services was retrievable in this pass, so nothing is stated either way.
No source establishedNo journey time is published here. The State Railway of Thailand's timetable at ttsview.railway.co.th (line 1, trip 2) is recorded as a lead only: train 8 shows a 07:30 Chiang Mai departure, but the column beside Bangkok (Krung Thep Aphiwat) prints "Dep." rather than "Arr.", so 17:40 may not be an arrival, and the page publishes no effective date. What is missing: the timetable's effective date, which service is fastest, and whether the Bangkok time is an arrival.
No source establishedAOT's newer annual report PDF returned access errors and its traffic database requires authorised access, so FY2024 is the latest retrievable figure — not necessarily the latest published. Refreshed annually.
Two different 180s
A DTV holder is permitted to stay up to 180 days per entry.
Official stepMinistry of Interior announcement, 15 July B.E. 2567 — Royal Gazette 141/192ง special, pp. 9–11 — clause 4 ↗Section 41 paragraph 3 of the Revenue Code reads "รวมเวลาทั้งหมดถึงหนึ่งร้อยแปดสิบวัน". The Revenue Department's English overview states the test as "more than 180 days"; the Thai statute is authoritative. Presence reaching an aggregate of 180 days in a tax year is counted, and DTV days are not excluded. "Tax year" is the calendar year, defined in section 39. Days are aggregated across separate stays within the same calendar year and are not combined across years. Tax residence does not depend on visa type. Income from work, business or property abroad that arises in a tax year when you are Thai-resident is taxable when brought into Thailand. This applies to income arising on or after 1 January 2024. Tax residence does not by itself mean tax on worldwide income.
